The riser's weight, landed on every floor.

A riser clamp is the support that stops a vertical pipe sliding down its shaft. Two flat steel bars are bent to the pipe, bolted together around it, and their long ears rest on the floor slab or a steel member, so each floor takes its share of the column. It is not a hanger: no rod attaches to it, and it should sit just below a lug or other attachment that can carry the shear load.

Combined Cooperation supplies the TEMBO TGRC00 series in Kuwait from DN15 to DN600, with UL listed and FM approved clamps from DN20 to DN150 for fire protection risers. The lined version (TGRC0L) adds a rubber lining rated -20 C to +110 C that cuts transmitted noise by up to 18 dB on domestic and chilled water risers.

On insulated risers the clamp is made oversize to close over a rubber support insert (TGRSI0). The insert is a moulded, steel-reinforced rubber ring that takes the place of the insulation at the support point, so the clamp bears on a solid section instead of crushing the insulation, and the cold pipe is kept off the steel.

Dimensions are for the clamp on bare steel pipe. Clamps for rubber support inserts are made to the insert's outside diameter; send the pipe size and insulation thickness.

Common questions about riser clamps.

01What is the difference between a riser clamp and a pipe hanger?

A hanger suspends a horizontal pipe from a rod. A riser clamp grips a vertical pipe and rests on the slab or a steel member, so the floor carries the load directly. No hanger rod attaches to it.

02When is a rubber support insert needed?

On insulated risers, typically chilled water. The insert replaces the insulation at the clamp, so the clamp bears on moulded rubber instead of crushing the insulation, and the cold pipe does not touch the steel.

03Which riser clamp sizes are UL listed and FM approved?

In the TGRC00 UL/FM series, DN50, DN65, DN100 and DN150 are UL listed and FM approved. DN20 to DN40 and DN80 are FM approved only. Larger sizes and lined clamps are supplied to MSS SP-58 Type 8 without a listing.

04What do you need to quote riser clamps?

The pipe material and size, the number of floors, the finish, and for insulated lines the insulation thickness. A priced offer follows within 24–48 hours.
